Personal Statement:

I have received many accolades for my mediation and arbitration skills and have been referred to as “a natural. ”   I am a full-time ADR professional and I am very passionate about Dispute Resolution.   I believe some of the main attributes a dispute resolution professional must have are the ability to:  substantively understand the issues and ramifications  of a dispute,  effectively communicate with the parties and their various  personality styles,  perform in a strategic manner and analyze all aspects of a problem in order to suggest creative solutions.  Indeed, my personality, experience and training has been invaluable in my success rate in both mediation and arbitration.  As a mediator,  I am able to “get through to”  and communicate with recalcitrant people, gain the trust of the parties , help the parties view the dispute in different ways and understand the opposing point of view, and offer very creative solutions to a dispute and bring the parties to an amenable settlement.   As an Arbitrator,  my abilities in logic and analysis have enabled me to write decisions that have been referred to as “better than some judges”.  My decisions have never been overturned on appeal.

I handle all types of disputes with impressive success, skill and care though I specialize in disputes that require technical knowledge such as Intellectual Property, Construction, Software, Hardware, Product Liability, Insurance Adjustment, etc.    My engineering background, ability to understand technical issues,  ADR experience and in-depth knowledge of construction has made me the obvious choice for these types of disputes.   Many of the parties of these disputes have commented that they had never had a mediator or arbitrator with such substantive knowledge of the issue.   Some people believe that retired Judges are the best choice for any dispute but retired Judges are generally not able to read a blueprint, schematic, or understand the critical aspects of a construction or technically intensive dispute.
